A guide to making the perfect espresso at home

Guida alla preparazione dell’espresso perfetto a casa

Making a perfect espresso at home is possible if you follow a few simple guidelines. With the right coffee and attention to detail, you can achieve a result worthy of an Italian coffee bar.

Choosing the Right Coffee

The first essential element is coffee quality. An artisan coffee, slowly roasted and fresh, guarantees:

  • Intense aroma
  • Compact, creamy crema
  • Balanced flavor

Correct Grind Size

The grind size must be suitable for the machine you are using:

  • Fine grind for espresso machines
  • Consistent grind for even extraction

An incorrect grind can make the coffee too bitter or too watery.

Water and Temperature

Always use fresh water with low mineral content. The ideal extraction temperature is around 90–95°C, to avoid burning the coffee.

Extraction Time

A good espresso is extracted in about 25–30 seconds. This timing allows you to obtain a coffee that is:

  • Well balanced
  • Creamy
  • Rich in aromas
“The perfect espresso is born from the balance between quality, technique, and passion.”
